Coming this spring!

A collaboration with Philadelphia’s Mann Center to produce an episode of the digital platform Mann Music Room: LEARN

Demonstration and Masterclass at SUNY New Paltz, Wednesday, March 24 on improvisation, musical dialogue, and creating in the moment

What we do.

Sunlight Origami is an exploration of communication and dialogue through the joy of music.  Sean and Vinnie create spontaneously.  The process is based on trust, respect, appreciation, and listening - paramount for dialogue. Is it Sunlight Origami playing the music, or is the music playing Sunlight Origami? While it may appear to be magic, It’s actually a fascinating process, and we’d love to share that with you…

So yes! Sunlight Origami is available for your masterclass, clinic, or artist residency. Vinnie and Sean are also available for private lessons on flute and piano. Below, please read further and use the contact form so we can begin working with you or your organization. We’re looking forward to working with you.

  • For non-music school programs and other organizations we offer demonstrations and discussions on modeling our musical process of communication, collaboration, and trust to reach a desired goal.

Please use the form below to contact us. We’ll be glad to create a proposal for you!

Private Lessons

Sean and Vinnie offer private lessons via Zoom, in flute, piano, improvisation, and composing. Our lessons are for anyone who already has some experience playing their instrument. “Look what you’ve achieved in only 3 days.  Imagine what you can do with your entire lives.”

-- Sean’s parting words to the students of Play On, Philly! (performance available here.)

Being the rare combination of classical and improvisational mastery, Sean revels in demystifying students’ inhibitions and overcoming fears, particularly of improvisation.  Personal growth, expression and interpretation are paramount in his teachings - whether classical repertoire, jazz standards or original compositions.

Teaching Experience includes:

  • Philadelphia’s Mann Center, taught The Art of SongWriting at String Theory High School.

  • New York City’s The Leadership Program, taught throughout the 5 Boroughs, including as Music Director for It Takes A Village Academy High School in Brooklyn.

  • Middlebury College, lead masterclasses on funk improvisation.

  • Additionally, as Director of Development for the pediatric medical nonprofit, myFace, Sean led family music therapy classes at The Turtle Bay Music School and developed a nationally adopted anti-bullying, pro-empathy middle school ELA curriculum.

In private lessons, Sean mentors his students in exploring the flute and developing repertoire, technique, tone, approach and musicality.

Sean has an M.M in Flute Performance from Yale University.
